The story of how we, Jeremy and Heather Powell, began Draggin Bags Customs.
First things first, our history. Jeremy has a college degree in Aircraft Mechanics and Airframe repair. He spent 10 years as Field Artillery and Infantry in the Alabama National Guard, deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, attaining the highest rank of Sergeant before leaving the Guard. Heather started college for Nursing but ended up Active Duty US Army for 12 years as Military Police. Heather attained the highest rank of Staff Sergeant and deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Heather was finally Medically Retired in early 2012 for continuing troubles from wounds recieved in combat, earning her a Purple Heart.
NOW, how the company started. Having already transformed our own 2008 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic from an old geezer glide to a rocking bagger, and then kept on continuing to make changes, adjustments, and additions, friends began to ask us to custom their bikes for them. After doing a couple out of friendship and the kindness of our heart, we kept going back to talking about how there was no shops around here that carried anthing or did anything bagger related. One night Jeremy comes home from his day job and says "I named our company. Draggin Bags Customs. What do you think?" Heather liked the name but was a little confused as to what company he was talking about. So for a couple weeks we kicked around the idea of actually getting a building and opening our shop. With every penny we had saved up and a few that hadnt even made it to saving yet, We bought our building, became an LLC, did all the legal stuff with the State and IRS, and now HERE WE ARE!!!!! We have built a few bikes now, done some of the most kick ass audio upgrades ever heard, but still tinker around with oil changes and routine maintence stuff too. While Heather does almost all of the office retail work, we BOTH ( thats right!!) turn wrenches, do fabrication, and body work.
